Long story guys but wont get into that. I got an 18hp evenrude that didnt run, got it firing and running but noticed it has a 2" split in the lower unit looks like it might have frozen before. Put it in forward and it did fine. Question: how do I seal that split so water dosnt get in the foot? Its above the water intake towards front of motor. Would JB weld work? Any and all ideas welcome, thanks in advance.

Welcome to iboats.

Could you post a picture? It would help us to diagnose.

Bring it to your local welding shop and have it welded.

I've used a lot of gray Marine-tex to repair l/u cracks and it worked out good. All the paint and ect has to be ground off first.

I used JB on a lower and it lasted the 3 years I had the engine without any water getting in, sold it and as far as I know it is still fine, so as long as it isn't in a high stress area that shoudl work fine.
