Adding a tach harness

Can you do this? I have a '63 35hp merc and I noticed the wiring harness does not have the prong for a tach. I wasn't sure if it can be run off the stator or add a kit maybe? Any help would be great. Thanks!

You have to run a separate wire from one stator side of the rectifier(yellow wire). You could use a black wire and tape it to the harness. I think that those motors have a large hole in the lower cowl that will provide a good exit for the wire.
