I have a 99 model Jonson 150 that cranks and idles very good until you put it in gear and then to keep it going you have to continue to choke it until you can finally get it to take off. Will idle in neutral all day long and runs top end very strong .Just trouble idling around ,as long as you choke it when it starts to die it will keep running and you have to keep on until you finally get it to go. Does anyone have any ideas what can be wrong?

Take your carbs and clean all componets, or just do a carb rebuild, rebuild kits are cheap and its easy to do. Start there. Make sure you have a repair manual for your motor, it gives step by step instructions.

Im in the process of cleaning all 6 carbs now. Found one gasket bad between carb and manifold.

I would do a compression test too,
make sure you use new kits to rebuild carbs.
Just cleaning isn't enough.
