So i've decided to replace the old glue in carpet with Durabak 18 (UV) and snap in carpet. There is a large plank cover for the gas tank access forward of the I/O engine.

I've cut a hole and installed a 4 inch deck plate to access the gas tank float. I do not was to permanently glass and seal the tank cover hatch though. However, I would like to seal it up as much as possible.

I was thinking a nice bead of 3m 4200 should do the trick. Should I make any other preparations??

The snap in (rubber backed marine grade carpet) will completely cover the deck and any seals.

What r your opinions??

Thanks,
Sam

Ayuh,... If the hull drains properly, there's really No reason to seal that panel...

Re: Gas Tank Deck Cover Seal

UPDATE:

Decided to update all of my Thread Posts today.

Decided to now seal the cover...but I did set something
up between the tank edge and hull to divert anywater
to the center of the tank...so that it drains to the rear
and into the bilge.

Just a little piece of mind I guess.
