tune up questions

hey all. im going to be doing a tune up on my boat soon. i read through the tune up thread in the adults only section. very good info i must say however i would like to know if you have to adjust everything while in the water or just the idle speed/carb?

Just for future use here. When asking these types of ? post what you have engine, O/D and year it helps. If it were me after intial replacement of the perishables get it in the water and up to operating temp check and or set the carb if needed to rpm for you rig then stat setting and or checking the timming while your at it I'm sure I may have missed some things but this is a start. Setting dwell (if you have a points system) and timing, and preliminary carb idle mixture and idle speed can be done out of the water and on muffs. This is usually enough. But, it may be necessary to re-adjust carb mixture and idle speed in the water. They can change with the back pressure of the water on the exhaust.
