Timimg Question Merc 140hp 78 model

This might sound like a stupid question but i have checked my timing again and my timing light is showing 4-6 degrees on the timing decal but to the right side of the TDC mark on the flywheel. Is that correct?

OK, That motor is an inline 6 distributor ign model? If so the right side of the decal is After TDC. The idle pickup spec for that motor is 4-6* BTDC, however that is when the carbs are just ready to open. If you have the throttle all the way retarded, that timing might be correct.
