Hi All -

I have a 2001 Crownline with a Volvo 5.7. The Controls for shifting are very stiff when in gear but smooth and slick when just used for throttle control (button pushed in). I found the tension screw in the control and turned it all of the way out. Still stiff. Is this pointing to a cable problem or a control problem. There is a big cost difference....
Thanks - John

Ayuh,... Disconnect the aft end of the cable, then try it....
If it moves easily, Try the next link in the system...
If it still moves Hard, disconnect it from the contoller to see which it is...

Like Bondo said, remove the cable at the drive. You should be removing your drive annually anyway so you need to disconnect while you do that.

More than likely its the cable, especially if you boat in salt water.
