I have a 70 hp evinrude on a pontoon boat and I want to mix my own gas. Can I plug the oil line going to fuel pump off and everything work ok on it ?

Disconnect the oil feed to the motor and cap it off at the fuel / oil connecter.

Disconnect the VRO oil sensor and the ?low oil? sensor from the wiring loom.

Then you are good to go on 50:1 premix using TCW3 2ST oil

However, in the UK we have had some issues with the VRO pump running a bit dry (no oiling) and the fuel pressure then goes low (at low revs) which causes No1 cylinder (the highest) to run lean. When this happens there is a real possibility of piston damage. Some pumps seem to go on for a long time and others fall over quite quickly.

So, to fix that, we now take out the VRO pump /pulse limiter and consign them to the bin and replace the VRO with a standard lift pump which is vacuum fed from the original location on No3 cylinder.
