Hey there --

I am brand new to this forum and just getting back into boating.
I just got a 1973 Mako 15' center console and need some help figuring out the year/model of my 75 HP Evinrude (previous owner didn't know -- had acquired the motor in trade -- and I couldn't find any information plate).

Here is a picture. Important note -- this motor was originally all white (it was painted by previous owner)

Thanks,

Check the motor bracket for a model & serial number tag..

If the 1x2 tag has been removed from the leg, look on the block for a welch plug with the model number stamped on it. Will be about the size of a quarter. Once you get that number we can get a year for you.

Thanks for that input -- I did already check the motor bracket and couldn't find the ID plate there. Re: the welch plug, do you know where on the block it is typically located on an Evirude motor like this?

On smaller motors its on top the block 2-3 inches in from the head

Looks like I found the "basic" year information (via a Google image search -- I didn't have a chance to check for the welsh plug yet -- will still do that to verify exact year/model info.) -- here is a picture of a 1982 model.

Does anyone know if Evinrude offered the white/saltwater version in 1982? (since my motor was originally white)
