I just bought a cylinder block, crank, cam shaft and head serial no OF367632.

According to the person the I bought the block it is a 140hp but I would like to know from were I can confirm that it is a 140hp and not a 135hp because I bought this engine to keep it as spear of the two mercruisers 140hp that I have on my boat.

I don't even know if it's L or LX

Thanks
Clive

You have a 1995 3.0LX engine, rated at 135 hp (prop shaft HP rating), the L has a 130 hp rating (also at the prop shaft)
The 140 rating was for older engines and was a crankshaft hp rating not propshaft.
There are no longer any engines known as 140 hp.

Hi,
First of all thanks for the quick reply.
What is the difference between the prop shaft rating and the crank shaft rating?
And what do you think if I change it with one of the two 140 that I have on the boat will there be an unbalance if I have the 140(crank rated) and the 135 (prop rated)?

If your old 140 engine with 140 crankshaft hp was re-calculated to todays propshaft hp rating, it would be 115 hp at the propshaft.
Your new engine has more hp than your old engine.
