Evinrude 70 hp

I have 2 evinrude 70 hps on bia mounts bare with me I dont know much about this stuff model number E70TLCRD and one of the motors doesn't tilt up or down. Any suggestions???? Can't seem to find a reservoir our anything to fill with oil unless it s actually the hydraulic itself???? Thanks for the help...

what he is implying with that question is: is the hydraulic pump running, ie getting electricity?

if not running, it may be a problem with the electrical relays that control the pump. Consult your manual, but relays may be in a black box sitting on top of the carbs. Open that up. If you have tester, see if you are getting 12 volts there when you press the up or down button. Look for corrosion, retighten the wires, jiggle the relays themselves, tap on them, or replace if necessary. Sometimes, one or all of those actions restores the bad connection or stuck contactor point.

yes it actually does make the sound both ways. it just doesnt move.. Im going to look today to see if the black box is there to check for the relays and will keep you guys posted.. thanks for the feedback...

If the tilt motor is running in both the up and down switch positions you are wasting time looking for relays as they are obviously working. Look at the tilt mechanism itself (the rod that pushes the engine up and down). The bottom end of that assembly has the tilt pump and fluid resevoir built into it. That's where the fluid is added.

ok thanks silver i'm going to check that... but on the bottom of the hydraulic all i see is a metal tube that looks like it feeds it oil no reservoir do i have to unscrew there ???? or is it somewhere else????
