Warm starts ok?
Is the fuel line holding pressure?

Been doing that since you got it, or did it just start? What recent maintenance has been done?

Faulty carb mounting gasket usually lets air in, instead of letting fuel out. More likely carb bowl gasket, or fuel lines getting old & stiff.

Could ya be a little more specific about where you see gas? Close inspection of all the fuel lines, carbs, pump & fittings while somebody squeezes the primer bowl should pinpoint the leak.

You should be able to tell whether the VRO is working, by watching the oil level in the reservoir. Double oiling isn't going to do that motor any good in the long run.........

The boat had the carbs rebuilt about 7 years ago. The leak just started this last season, it starts fine when warm. The oil alarm goes off now and then thats why I don't trust the oil pump the tank dosn't seem to change levels, wont to by pass.
The gas looks like it is around the gasket between the block and carb.

Dry everything off and pump the bulb a couple times and see if you can find it.

Also change your gas line if you haven't, 23 years is a pretty good service life and make sure to get all the hose under the hood, you wanted to disconnect the VRO anyways.

A gas leak under the cowl can be really bad, I have seen boats launch the cowl a 100' in the air when the gas/air mix gets just right.

levi's right, if a carb is leaking, looking for the source is a waste of time -- no matter which gasket it is, a rebuild with new kits is the fix.

there's a thread on carb rebuilding in the "top secret file" at the top of this forum -- you can do it.
