Anyone make 12" keel rollers that do NOT have steel sleeves inside?

Does anyone make 12" V-style keel rollers that do NOT have a steel sleeve inside? You know, the part rusts and expands and makes the roller split apart after awhile?

Black rubber, yellow TP rubber, polyurethane, I would consider any of them.

If they are periodically serviced they last a long time.

maybe you need smaller rollers for the keel, so they don't trap water where you can't get to it. On a lot of trailers the rolling is on the side rollers until the boat is at rest. Load-rite has those wobbly rollers that don't hold water and work great around salt water.

Why can't the sleeve be 316 stainless steel ???

The Stoltz rollers use steel tubing to make them strong. But not as the bearing surface for the axle shaft.
The tubing is encapsulated in the poly.
Until a crack developes somewhere.

Stainless needs oxygen to oxidize the protective coating that makes it "rust" resistant. This is why you don't use stainless fitting below the water line.

Crevice Corrosion
Intense localised corrosion, ranging from small pits to extensive attack over the whole surface, can occur within narrow crevices formed by the geometry of a structure, for example: riveted plates or threaded joints. Crevice corrosion is characterised by a geometrical configuration in which the cathode reactant, oxygen, can readily gain access to the metal surface outside the crevice and less access to the crevice. The metal within the crevice is therefore anodic to the surrounding steel and suffers preferential corrosion.

The crevice can be caused by any material & crevice corrosion is commonly found under insulation gaskets.When mud, poorly adherent coating, sand and other debris cover a passive surface it undergoes a similar type of attack to that occurring in crevices. Wherever loose debris collect, there will be a depletion of oxygen in a crevice. Consequently, the attack is localised there.​

very interesting; I didn't know that about SS.

Some days it's worth it to chew through the leather straps to get up in the morning.
