Got an email from the store manager of my local SeaRay dealer stating that they are now selling Bayliner boats. They already has 2011 boats in stock ready for sale. The are now SeaRay, Boston Whaler and Bayliner. I have heard that other SeaRay dealers are doing the same thing, another boat line to sell, helps keep the doors open. They lost 1 or 2 lines when Brunswick shut down some of the lines they had.

It sounds like they see the handwriting on the wall. Become like Walmart to get people to enter. If they have any old fashioned salesmanship, they should be able to sell on features and benefits, which is value. Otherwise, the checkouts counters will be consisting of the entry level boats.

That could be true and they should pick up the existing Bayliner customers that had bought from the previous Bayliner dealer. It also gives them the entry level boat for the ones they can't get in the other lines they have, they still gain customers either way.

brunswick is brunswick......liner or ray......they want the dealers to carry the stock.

the industry is still in trouble from the crash of 08......the reports from the kc boat show are not good.

Most likely they are being pushed by Brunswick to carry other Brunswick brands either with incentives or with other methods. No matter what with inflation, fuel going up & the economy luxury items like boats will be on the back burner for many buyers.
