Oil Pressure Switch pegged. Where should I start?

I have a 1995 7.4 Bravo Combo and when I turn on the ignition the oil pressure pegs to the right. If I disconnect the sender wire it goes back to the left. There is no change with the engine running.

Does that sound like a bad sender (looks new) or a guage?

Ayuh,... Sounds like it's internally grounded out,...
I'd try a New 1...

howdy.

The sender is "shorted".

You need to replace it.

A general thought.... when gauges "peg full" usually mean a short. When gauges "peg empty" usually mean open circut.

By the way, if you remove the wire at the sender (and the gage returns)..........the sender is shorted.

If you remove the wire at the gage (and the gage returns) the sender may be shorted or the wire IS shorted somewhere between the sender and gage.......
