Question do I need to have this block professionally honed? It looks like I can clean it up at home? All holes were bored .30 over per seller ...

I'd use it like that, but, let's wait for more input from the others.

Looks fine, you can still see the cross hatching from the previous hone

I would mike the cylinder first to see exactly what size they are. Thats a small bore looper as it has the bridged exhaust port and thhat hone job sucks, looks like someone ran the wrong size ball hone thru it. Crosshatch should look like this......

I will just say I would take it to a mechine shop and have it checked for size and round. I do not think a freshly bored cylender should look like that. Just me.

Thanks Guys, I will take it to a machine shop since I am taking no chances on this rebuild.

What type of pistons are you going to use? Reason I ask is some aftermarkets do not come drilled to cool bridged port.....

I am not sure, I am considering Forged Wiseco 3.530""/.030
Are these drilled? Also I have seen after markets on ebay ....

Re: 140 v4 Evinrude Block ..Rebuilding Question

Dont use the Wisecos as they are soft and it takes several heat cycles to harden them up. You will be better off with a cast piston. I recommend using the Promarine,Vertex or Persan pistons. If the pistons dont come drilled you can have machine shop drill them or lower the bridge a tad with your finger and some 120g cloth. I lower the bridge with a porting grinder and 120g flap wheel.

Boathead on Ebay probably has the pistons for your application and at a decent price. I have used him before with good results.
