17' Pro Craft with 120hp Force outboard

Hello,
I'm looking into buying a used 17' Procraft with the 120hp Force outboard. Any recommendations with that motor? I have heard good and bad things, usually poor fuel/oil mixture problems. I happen to love Mercury motors but unsure about the Force? Any suggestions good or bad related to the 120hp Force would be much appreciated..

Check compression on all cylinders, I had a 125hp force on an old Bayliner.

Never left me stranded, towed my fathers boat with a Mercrusier back to the dock. No problems

You'll hear some bad things about Force motors - mainly that they were chrysler designs and they aren't made anymore. That said, if it's been maintained and is in good shape, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it leaves you, you can alway repower. Not for nothing, you can probably use others apprehension about the Force name to negotiate a better deal. Good luck with it.

Not to rain on your parade.... but a Pro Craft is a poorly made boat and Force outboards are no longer fully supported with parts/service. It would have to be really cheap for me to consider it.

that's hillarious because the guy selling it would not except my offer. After reading up on the Force motor I think I'll stick with my gut feeling and personnal experience of Mercury outboards. That being said I'm still in the market for a good used bass boat..

When checking out boats/motors look here on iboats for parts.I think Chrysler/Force has a few pages Evinrude/Johnson for instance has something like 60 pages plus the nation wide dealer network,NAPA auto parts and the many many vendors on the net.
If you need pros to work on your motor consider if there is a close well established dealer near you.

He'll probably wish he had as the winter drags on. Ya done good. Be sure to fill us in when you pull the trigger on something.
