He said it sat for 8 years. It was fogged when stored and winterized.

I did not see it run or hear it run.

The oil was clean with no water.

Is there anything I should check for before I go ahead and put a new battery in and crank it?

Lol, I know that I might just try to turn it over quick, since its to cold to hook up water to it.

But we have a 40 degree day coming up so I might give it a shot to run it.

Dont try to run it without water. A few seconds can burn an impeller up.

If you do attemp to fire this thing in this weather it would be a good idea to sot some lube of some sort into the cylinders via the spark plug hole a few day's in advance to help break loose a possible stuck ring and break up any corrosion that may have accumulatedon the cylinder walls over the past years. And yes do not attempt this without water supplied to the system.

A boat that has not been run for that long of a period should have the impeller replaced before even starting it.
Also the bellows and complete drive service.
