I have a 1990 Mercruiser 305, 5.0 LX Sea Ray with a Roch. 2BBL. Fuel is flooding into the engine. The carb was factory rebuilt and not run yet. I Can hear something running even with the key off and the battery selector switch turned off. Would appreciate any advice on this.
Thanks,
PEF

Do you have an electric fuel pump? The 1990 model should be a mechanical pump.

There's only 2 things that cause a carb to flood..needle and seat leaking, or excessive fuel pressure.

A carburetor is just like the tank on a toilet!

3 not 2....If the tiny vent holes (on top of main jet venturis) are plugged fuel will siphon in to the throat.....DO NOT use tip cleaner to clean. Soft metal or stiff fibers.
Any change in the size of this orifice will dramatically change how the engine runs.
