Best hand cream for working hands?

I get bad drying of the skin on my hands, especially in the cold winter months. Some times after two or three days of straight exposure working outside, even with work gloves, my knuckles get so dry they will crack and bleed when I make a fist, and the top layer of skin will peel from the tip of my pointing finger all the way down to the tip of my thumb. An area that gets a lot of abrasion especially when using tools like a shovel. Its painful like having paper cuts every time I move my fingers.

Vaseline helps, but there must be something better that does not leave my hands slippery. I spent 15 minutes in the isle at a big "drug store" retailer that had dozens of hand creams. Read all the labels and still have no idea what is the best remedy or topical solution to use.

Any recommendations are appreciated.

There is a fine line on using hand cream in the winter....... too much and your hands get too soft and you have no callus left.

I use the cheap stuff, Equate brand. I use it every time I wash my hands.

My wife got some cream from a friend who runs a specialty shop, the stuff is made with lanolin and goats milk, not all that expensive and it just takes a small dab to keep the hands from getting chapped, living in Montana where it is cold a good amount of the year as well as low humidity most of the time, it can be a real chore to keep from getting chapped hands...

I grew up on a dairy farm...Bag Balm is my pick.

To help treat your hands, get some thin cloth gloves, grease your hands up with your cream of choice, put the gloves on and wear them to bed.

if your wife goes to bed bath and beyond they have a jar of hand lotion. not sure of the name but you put in on rinse off excess and it works very well all day. I don't go get it. LOL

otherwise I use Vaseline hand lotion. it works well. seems funny to talk about that. as a youngster i would never have put that stuff on my hands. now days it's everyday in the winter time. LOL

Bag Balm

It is used for animals but I have used it for hands and feet
put some on your hands while you are setting around watching TV
you might want to where gloves
It will fix your hands in less than a week

www.bagbalm.com
you can buy it at most feed and seed stores

By far the best I've ever seen. My hands have gone thru many years of saltwater, sun, busting nuckles, solvents, chemo, and so forth. I've tried everything, all of them mentioned are good.....but....this is the best stuff I've ever used. I was introduced to it recently and started using it.

You have my vote, Bob_VT.....for sure! :)

All the creams mentioned are great for keeping your hands moisturized. To help them get back into that condition, use A&D ointment.

Corn Huskers or Bag Balm. Used both, still use the Corn Huskers regularly.

In addition to whatever "flavor" hand cream you get, make sure you drink plenty of water.

If you are slightly dehydrated, your hands will crack easier. Most people don't drink enough water during the cooler times of the year.

I like corn huskers and use whatever my wife buys when I'm at home.
