Prop shaft removal 93 90hp Johnson

I have removed lower unit, disassembled unit down to removing the (chewed up) pinion gear, pulling up on the shift rod, but cannot get the prop shaft to come out of the housing. Anything I missed? Following Clymer manual.

Also, forgot to count revolutions on shift rod removal. Any idea how far to screw it back in when reassembling unit?

Unit is a '93 Johnson 90 HP Model J90TLETS.
