1979 starcraft,

ok I have a 1979 starcraft with an omc ,120 and lower unit it wont go all the way up when i use the tilt only about half way , but heres my question would it be to hard to replace that motor with a mer cruiser and lower unit ,what do i have to do to put it in what kind of reconstuction , can it be done thank guys tom:eek:

You would have to rebuild your transom as the mercruiser cutout is much smaller than the omc. There are conversion plates available but they are around $1000 on their own.
Better to just sell your boat and buy one with a mercruiser.

I don't believe those transom conversion plates are available anymore^^^^

Click on my "Islander Rebuild" link below - I am only about half way through the transplant. It's possible.:D

If its a tinny its not to bad to change them over, but if its a glasser it would be cheaper to buy another boat...
