Hey guys,

First post here.
I've got an Evinrude 1972 V4 (100HP) Model No: 100293R.

Took it out this weekend (after had just installed a new waterpump impeller installed) and it started to have issues, no power when throttle is on, just splutters and dies.. however was running fine.. it appears that water was leaking through onto the sparkplug casuing it to 'short' and not fire.
Siince then have removed the head, and checked the gasket which looks fine.

However the outter plate seal (unsure what this is called) had to much buildup to tell if it was this gasket at all. My mate said that when the spark plug from cylnd. 4 was removed and had it running that it was 'firing' water from the hole? But when the head was taken off there was no signs of water just fuel? Would the misfiring cylinder also be the cause of excessive smoking?

Also what are the oil/fuel ratio's for these as I have seen that 50:1 is correct?

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
