I recently purchased an older four winns boat for my son and I to enjoy this summer. We took it out for a cruise yesterday only to discover that water is getting into the motor compartment. It appears that it is somehow being pulled in by the motor, as when the motor is off, no water comes in. Has anyone had this problem before and what was the fix?

Thank You Chuck

You're going to have to look for the water leak. We've all had water in the bilge problems one time or another. Get a mirror and see if you can find a general area where it is leaking from. Most obvious places are the bilge plug and bellows.

If you are getting water in the bilge with it running check the raw water hoses from the outdrive to the thermo housing, the hoses to the exh manifolds, the big water pump hose, the exhaust hoses, and the entire exhaust system as a start. There is a power steering cooler at the rear of the engine compartment that can leak too.
