I have built a engine stand and want to run the engine in a barrel in the garage.

The engine is electric start 3 cylinder autolube, it has a plug on a wiring harness.
Is it a case of connecting the battery leads, to the battery
then adding +voltage to the + side of the starter motor for a few seconds until the engine runs independantly.

I've always had 80s evinrudes in the past and I'm not familiar with the electronic gadgetry and autolube on this motor.

Cheers Alan in Sunderland.

Yes it should run even if you pull start it, the oil pump is gear driven. But you will need to short the white wire to ground to kill the motor.
It would be best to hook up battery and then jump the start relay

Would it be possible to short the pins at the plug to start and stop te engine?

If it is which ones would you short?

Not sure what model and year your motor is but I believe red to brown should start and black to white should kill it, is my guess

Since this is not a us motor I have no idea, but what I said before was the color code of a US 7 pin
