I am going to be redoing my fuel lines with the appropriate marine grade lines and I wanted to know what the rules are for using fuel filters, fuel pressure guages and those quick disconnect fittings.

"Rules?...there are no rules"
Sorry I watch too many movies:)

Rule of thumb...KISS...keep it simple stupid.

I eliminated the quick connect on the tank side...one less thing to leak.
For fixed tanks, some people remove the engine side also.

A fuel pressure gauge is temporary thing un-less it's a race boat.
(Plug it in see/read the pressure and remove it)

Fuel line filters can get tricky, I have read about the pressure drop in some cheap filters.
I use an inline cartridge water separator filter. Inboard style, shaped like an oil filter and have no issues.

If the boat is commercially used, fishing/transport or work (tug/tow)
The USCG 'rule' was, there has to be two (2) connectors on all hose connectors.
For flammable, it has to be a crimp type...no 'hose clamps'

Your hose needs to be marine type A1 with the appropriate barb fitting. No inline fuel filter is allowed - unless it is attached - like the fuel water separator mentioned above.

Here are the actual regs if you want to do some reading:

Coast Guard regs

Thanks for the replies.

Another questions. Where is an appropriate place to mount the inline cartridge water separator filter? I want to mount it on the wall that separates the engine room from the cabin.
