6hp evinrude wont start

Im not sure of the year as the there is no data plate to be found anywhere ( i beleive it is a late 80s model) it has been sitting for a yearish and it seems like its not getting enough spark. what else should i check and do before i try to start it again?

Do a compression test. See if the cylinders are reasonably equal in psi. How are you testing the spark (ignition)? You should be using a spark tester and not just looking at the plugs. Probably going to need a carb kit and cleaning after sitting for a year. Be kind to her, that's a great motor you have there!
