I know this has been said many times many ways, (sounds like a Holiday song) but here is my backyard engineering.

Had to change the angle of the plate, it was top heavy and wanting to flip forward, spaced it out w/ 2 - 3/4" nuts. I still might make the angle a little more.

I had the motor stand, and all the other parts were laying around. Took about 1 1/2 hours to build the plate, pop the motor off and mount the motor.

Good for storage, won't be doing test runs on this.

I love stuff like that, it isn't pretty and it wasn't expensive but you solved a problem with what you had on hand, well done.

I have made multiple "heads" for engine stands...... they are very good for a multitude of uses......... now just hope you do not need the stand for another purpose.

Last winter I stored my V-4 on it's back on a sheet of plywood.

Good lick!! I've seen eng.stands at yard sales as little as $12--few scraps of wood and there you go!

Re: Rube Goldbergish Engine Stand

This is a 135 HP. I have looked at it sitting there. I'm thinking that it the bottom support leg was flipped the opposite way, I would not need to shim the angle of the mounting plate. The issue I see with that is the height would even be less. Skeg could hit the support leg. Or I would have to raise to support plate.

The goldbergish comment is because it's a little more complecated than I was hoping.

It's a great use of the engine stand and I hope I don't have to have another use for the stand. I did that last summer and don't want to do it again - for a long while.
