Re: Johnson motor year

I could not find j50belcvr anywhere, j50belcta is the closest and that is a 1983 model.Are you positive that you have the correct model number?

Re: Johnson motor year

If the actual model number is J50BELCUR ...

J = Johnson
50 = 50hp
BE = Belgium derated - electric start
L = long (20") shaft
CU = 1987
R = model run

Re: Johnson motor year

Look very closely at that penultimate letter

I dont find J50BELCUR listed

It might be J50BELCNR which is a valid number for 1982

For those date letters
I= 1, N =2, T= 3, R= 4, O= 5, D= 6, U=7, C= 8, E= 9 and S= 0

Dang ... you made me look up that word ... "next to last"!

I was just ignoring the last character, and assuming the "V" might have been mistaken for a "U" ... but you are probably "right on" with the assumption that the "V" is actually an "N"
