Motor runs great, but sometimes when you pull it back to neutral it shuts off. Then when you try to restart it it will fire up and then shuts right back off.The only way to get it to start back is to use the neutral detent and advance the throttle, then turn the key to start it up with it reved up then you slowly have to bring it back to neutral. I only run non Ethanol Gas and i have a water filter. help please

What rpms are you running at idle.Should be about 750 in gear in the water
You do a compression test? J

If you rev it up in neutral and bring it back does it still die or only in gear?

Re: 2005 115 hp 4 stroke idle problems

That motor has a Yamaha 115 powerhead so doing a search in the Yamaha/Suzuki section will bring up many results

Well, Rodbolt would say "Check the fuel pressure and TPS voltage output at the RPM that the problem is occurring"

Also cleaning the IAC may help

I've had this issue going on with my motor for a couple of years.
It progressively had gotten worst
Ran fine above 3000 rpm when the problem was occurring
It was intermittent so taking it to a shop and having them reproduce the problem would have been a waste of time and my $$$
I finally tracked the problem down to a defective throttle position sensor (TPS) only being out of specs below 2000 rpm when problem was occurring
When the problem cleared up, the TPS specs were correct

No codes were stored on the CPU for the bad TPS

1/2 dozen trips without the problem
Keeping my fingers crossed that the problem does not return

Hope you find the cause quickly
