I cant align motor I get it exact then turn motor 180 and its way off kept trying and I believe the coupler is bad so I am buying one on ebay .my question is do I keep old coupler and align as close as I can and then replace coupler and yoke when it goes bad

That's a lot of work to pull the engine twice - not to mention the need to be towed in when the coupler goes out.

thats part of the problem didnt know coupler was bad till I was aligning the motor after it was in

Follow the procedure recommended by Mercruiser in their shop manual, and you will do fine
