I believe in having airport security BUT last week when I started to get on a plane they required a pat down....I wasn't concerned until the GUY put on some Pat Boone music and offered me a glass of wine first....lol

Re: Airport security

Mark Stein was cutting up on the subject yesterday. He said he didn't want to glow in the dark and declined the X-ray bit. When he was being patted down the TSA agent reached into his drawers and withdrew the 5000 Shares of NY times stock he likes to keep there. Mark told him, "Don't touch my junk"

Hilarious...good one.:D
They should allow travellers to choose the agent they want to pat them down and at least 2-3 choices should be, quite honestly, women....and no big 'uns.;):)

Re: Airport security

I wonder what would happen if when your being patted down, you started to loudly moan with pleasure?
I mean to really ham it up and ask them to go slower and to give directions on what you like?????????????
Loud enough so that everyone within 80ft can clearly hear you.

Re: Airport security

Not trying to get too political but this is nuts. If we surrender our freedoms the terrorists have won.

I just finished reading an article about a woman and her 11 year old daughter that really bothered me. The daughter has a medical condition that causes "wetting" so she has to wear an adult diaper. Of course that showed up on the scanner and they were told they would be searched. The mother refused to allow a stranger to grope her daughter (I would do the same) and cancelled her flight. That of course raised suspition (TSA seen no reason to not grope an 11 year old) and they were held for three hours for questioning.

Honestly, there is no way I would let a complete stranger do this to one of my kids and I can't think of any way I could try to explain to a child that age its ok to let an adult stranger grope them.

Under standing what your saying. People who try to smuggle things will try just about anything including using there sick child as a mule.

I like the one were all passengers must pass through a bomb proof container that will set off all explosives they may have. Yup solves that problem.

Bubba, you're simply going to have to get comfortable with it....even if its' your daughter getting the pat down. What is good for the goose is good for the gander here...and if it's ok to pat down travelling businessman then it is ok to pat down the daughters and kids of people...even if it's yours.
Tough times call for tough measures and like you yourself said....the terrorist activities have initiated this requirement so its time to get with the resulting program and not risk playing favorites, even if its your kids.;)
Children might be a great unsuspecting place to hide dangerous items and bad people can easily play upon this and simply put....they do.
My two bits, respectfully.:)

Re: Airport security

It seems to me that the basic question as to why we have such tough air port security is not being addressed. I think the goal of the terrorist is to simply kill americans and create as much havoc here as possible..Is this not so? The terrorist are opportunist and who says they can only use airplane destruction to accomplish their goals? For example every person getting ON a plane can be strip searched and this will still NOT PREVENT a terrorist sitting near an airport glide path with a hand-held stinger missile making an easy shot which would bring down a plane. I bet that guy never gets his junk touched and most likely could get away without being caught. What about this ? For sure this is more possible than my grandmother bringing in a bomb stuffed in her brassier.Stopping stinger missiles from coming into our country should be more important that what might be in my child's underwear......gezzzz go figure

Re: Airport security

A major problem is that the US chooses not to profile passengers and subject those more likely to commit violent acts to the searches. We'd rather make making everyone miserable rather than being "unfair", "racist", or "discriminatory". Hard to run an effective security scheme and be "nice" at the same time.....

Re: Airport security

I disagree with everything, why are we doing any of these searches? last time I checked gun owners out number terrorists in this country 10 to 1 or more so why can I not carry on a plane in my own country? why did Archie bunker say thirty years ago that everyone on a plane should get a gun and then turn them in when you arrive?

When I arrive at an airport if they want me to I will gladly show my CCW permit and they can issue me special rubber bullets along with my 180 grain hydro shocks and I will happily turn in my rubber bullets when I arrive. Still makes me furious. And we all have a choice in this, I choose not to fly until they realize the correct way to allow us to protect ourselves.

Anyone here who carries ever get asked why they carry? I do, and I tell them that because cops are too heavy to carry everywhere.

Re: Airport security

There are way more stupid, belligerent drunks in the US on planes than terrorists. I really don't want them armed. And yes, I own a few guns and have a carry permit. Rarely do carry, because it's pretty pointless in real life.
A good estimate is that 52 million American households own some 260 million guns. There may be less than a dozen potential foreign terrorists in the US so I think that 10:1 is a bit low.....
The last two idiots that tried to blow themselves up with their shoes or undies got their arse kicked the old-fashioned way by the passengers; no guns required.

Re: Airport security

This is an interesting subject.

My first question is what does a terrorist/bad guy look like?

2nd question define terrorist.

3rd question why are people so uptight about being searched? If you have nothing to hide whats the problem.

Re: Airport security

Guys you know they will never do what needs to be done regarding security. That said I await the daily stories that seem to make the headlines. Other than the lady that had to remove her implant due to her surviving cancer and the gentleman that had his stoma agitated during his search though he warned the TSA and urine spilled out onto his clothing, there certainly will be some light hearted stories to come. I am suprised how far we have fallen. Just when I think no more damage can be done, something new comes up.

Puddle Jumper, you must have asked number 3 to be inflamatory.

3rd question why are people so uptight about being searched? If you have nothing to hide whats the problem.

1st hes the one with the boxcutter and is threatening someone, or is lighting a shoe on fire. And I shouldn't generalize it to just terrorists I would include suicidal passengers as well.

2nd See number 1, also what does a federal air marshal look like I have never seen or met one and the odds are that there are millions more willing passengers that carry so why not place those odds in our favor rather then playing chance? I bet there are more flights with passengers that give up there 2nd amendment right to fly then there are Flight Marshals.

3rd I just think that we are private people, I don't know Mr/Mrs TSA and I sure don't want him/her feeling up my wife, that will end bad for him and for me but him first!

I don't think theres a clear cut answer to any of these, but in the end I think that the people will take care of things much better then the government, so they should stay out of our way. Take the 9/11 flight 93 that crashed into PA. one or two carrying passengers would have ended it quickly and effectively, can't argue that since they did it anyway by brute force, the question is whether they could have saved the flight itself.

Because I do have something to hide, I was born with it, and I don't want the TSA feeling up on it.

Are you really that ignorant? The 4yo boy didn't have anything to hide, so why didn't his dad want the TSA guy feeling all up on him? We're not talking bag searches here, we're talking genital searches.

So just because some man isn't hiding anything means he should let some stranger feel all over his nuts? PJ, you can't be this stupid. It's gotta be a prank.

Re: Airport security

this is why I bought a class a motorhome. I refuse to have my kids and my wife groped and subjected to this type of garbage. This is not the country I fought for, sadly the terrorist have won when we surrender our freedoms this easily. as for what one looks like, well that is pretty easy to profile. Just as the people that run the Israel air line. They do not have scanners nor are people groped. They look you in the eye and ask tough questions.

Aren't K-9s capable of sniffing out explosive material? and they are at airports no?

I've watched Mythbusters and they've tested the K-9's ability to find drugs and explosives and the dog always wins.

Are more dogs a possible answer?
