I have a 1988 19' citation that is in great shape except the floor boards. I have removed the seats, floor hatches and carpet to find a fiberglass layer about 1/4" thick over what appears to be the rotted plywood decking.

I would assume I can cut the perimeter of the fiberglass and remove this layer exposing the rotted plywood.

Any feedback on this adventure would be appreciated

Definately check out the stringers and transom to make sure that the only rot is on the floor.....

dont do it......you can....but why?

you know the deck is rotted...you know it has to come out.....why peel the glass?....you cant re use it.

take your circ saw...set the blade depth to the depth of the deck....and cut as close to the perimiter as you can (and as straight as you can). now you have a template for your new deck.

after the deck is out....take core samples of the foam and stringers-transom.

if all is ok....just replace and re glass the deck and go fishin

cheers
