gauges go. off and on

i have a 2 cycle yamahaa 115.the volt meter works fine when the key is on.when i start the motor it will go on and off at random.all the gauges go off and on.it does not effect the battery charge or the running of the engine.

Ialso noticed the volt meter makes a winding buzzing noise when it goes off and on.checked all the fuses and wiring and could not find the problem

Sounds like a lose or corroded connection in the wiring. Crank it up and reach under your dash and jiggle the wires and try to reproduce the problem. Mine did something similar and it turned out to be just a bit of corrosion on the in-line fuse. The humidity around the water is rough on wiring and connections, have to inspect, clean, tighten. A touch of grease helps keep moisture off of some problem areas. Good Luck!

They probably all run on same ground so it would be the from the ground to the first gauge.

ground-----X-------------guage ------gauge-------gauge
X= break or corrded or loose wiring
