Thre is no rebuild kit for that pump. An 18-7350 fuel pump from here at iboats will probably fit with some hose re-routing.

Would you know where I might find hose end fuel connector 376156. The later connectors do not fit this motor?

They don't fit?? That's news to me. That thing has been used for over 50 years. However, I do notice that 376156 has been changed to 775640. I don't know what the difference is. I'll bet any Evinrude dealer would have some of the old style ones around. Also, right here at iboats, part number 18-8056, which I sure hope will fit since I bought one yesterday.

The fuel fitting is very different to the late model fittings. I have a box of late model fittings from various sources and a "real" OMC fitting.
I will be at the dealer tomorrow so I will take the parts catalog with me.

Was surprised to find that the power head had to come off to pull the lower. Should I blame American or Scandinavian engineering for that smart piece?

Well, don't get too mad. There is a reason for that. The motor has one of the best lower crankshaft seals ever made. That seal keeps water out of the powerhead. Dropping the lower unit would let the seal fall apart. Forcing you to remove the powerhead forces you to tend to that seal. Unfortunatly, most people ignore it and slap it back any old way. Then the motor throws a rod and they blame it on the oil. It ain't the oil, it is the water.

Having said all that, yes they did redesign the newer 6hp motors to hold the seal captive so you don't have to remove the powerhead. That satisfies the complainers. But the old type is better.

Obviously a bad case of my lack of knowledge. Thanks for putting me straight FR.
Also you were absolutely right about the fuel fitting. I pulled the fitting from the case and low and behold there was an "O" ring sitting there preventing the hose fitting from going all the way.
The drive shaft seal looks in good shape so I think I will just refit it. Probably difficult to find a replacement. Not that I am not prepared to chase it if necessary.
