I purchased a used Mercury 2007 225 DFI which starts and runs good. Except when I reach around 5000 RPM I get a Throttle down, Pressure Fault sensor warning. I back off slightly to around 4950 and it goes away and continue to run good unless I go back up to 5000 rpm. This also happens when I am starting out if I gun it, get the same error. So I have to start out slow and raise the throttle little by little and I get no issue. When alert goes off I check Smart Guages, water temparature and oil pressure and they stay the same. Sounds like its a faulty sensor but unsure.

You need to test fuel pressure while underway, if fuel pressure droops under major load such as holeshot or WOT, suspect a dirty filter, pickup screen in the VST or a high pressure pump beginning to fail.
