I just recently purchased a used boat with a 1999 50hp Mercury Bigfoot on it. When I launched the boat to put in the wet slip it started up fine and I was able to get it to the slip with no problems. Now when I start it and try to put it in gear it cuts out. It runs fine in neutral though. I'm not sure how long since the motor was last use since I bought the boat used. I have noticed that its very hard to shift and put in gear. Not sure if that's part of the problem or not. Thanks!
