is there a way to test my overheat and low oil alarms on my yamaha F115 2005 engine. I have two red lights and an horn/alarm on the console. When I turn the key on the red lights goes on for one second and then goes off. Does the engine have to be running in order for alarms to go off ? I do know were the temperature control is on the engine. Just need to know how to test for these alarms. Thanks.

Re: yamaha F115tlrd

you actually have basterdized rigging.
how ever to test the alarm, engine must be running.
for the oil, simply short pink at the oil switch to ground.
if the motor is above 113*F oil pressure alarm wont occur below 2000 RPM.
stupid but I did not design it.
for overheat, insert a 2200 ohm resistor in the sensor leads, you may have to wait up to 60 seconds of running before it overheats.
the 2200 ohm 1/2 watt resistors are avalible at radioshack.
