I just bought a new 2009 90hp elpto to repalce an older inline 6cyl. 90hp. I was able to use all my existing controls and cables. The engine has an 8 pin wire connection. My new engine is supposed to be run with an oil , temp alarm. Where and which wires could I wire an alarm in? I have read in these forums the oil pump sensor sends a 5 volt signal ?, what voltage alarm would I need? Thanks.

Re: wiring in an oil alarm

The temp sensers ground when the motor overheats. So you would run +12VDC to one side of a buzzer and the other side to the overheat sensor. When the temp senser grounds, the circuit is complete.

it is likely the other sendors work the same, but go to the maxrules.com website and look up the wiring diaghram for the old and new motors and create a connection diaghram. It should be obvious how the sensors work...
