So since my girl is in drydock and will be moved over the the construction area ($25 a day...ouch) I thought it would be silly not to paint her hull. So I am deciding on what kind of bottom paint to use. She's a planing "V" hull and just needs finish sanding and a couple places with blisters.

I've heard from several folks that there are vast difference in paint. I also haven't decided on a color but am leaning toward red, I want something that can be seen if I'm upside down!

Are there certain brands and types of bottom paint I should avoid and certain brands that are better? I won't have her out of the water for a LONG time after she goes in this time so I would like to only have to paint her once for hte next few years at least.

Re: Bottom paint...

Look at VC-17..

Comes in gray .. blue and RED..

Only sells in quarts and goes on looking like copper but will change in the water.. best stuff IMHO..

Water thin and applied with a Foam roller..not nap rollers !

No need for a tray liner.

Prep as needed of coarce...

Thanks YD, I will check it out and post pics when I move her to the construction yard. Engines are going on in December, I can't wait.
