I am trying to help a friend winterize his boat. He failed to pump out the holding tank and now we are trying to find a solution. I cant find a discharge port under the water nor can I find the Y valve or easy access to the holding tank. Is there no other way to remove the waste except through pumping out at the topside access. There is a macerator switch although it lights up there is no sound that can be heard. I believe the model year is a 2000.

Not sure. Maybe try to pump out as much liquid as you can, then fill it with antifreeze.

The switch lighting up does not mean there is a macerator. If it has a macerator, then there is most likely a Y valve somewhere that will allow it to pump out the waste tank through one of the through hull openings. If that is the case then just stick a hose in that opening and then into a container then flip the switch.

If no macerator, then simply take a shop vac and stick the hose in the pump out port and suck out the waste. It works awesome. Just make sure you have your buddy do it and use his shop vac.:D That way he will have to empty and clean it. Any trailer dump can be used to dispose of the waste.

Oh, remember that a shop vac may not have the holding capacity of the holding tank which may be 30 gallons or more, plus you have to move the shop vac around with out spilling:eek:.

Once empty, flush a bowl full and RV anti-freeze and a cup of veggie oil. The veggie oil keeps the joker valve and seals lubricated during the winter so they do not stick or dry out.
