New to forum I have a 2003 four winns 214 funship with 5.0 sx outdrive and thinking of changing to dp. More power out of hole? better fuel economy? has any one else changed the outdrive and what was the result?
Yes the dual prop offers all those things but the cost of one is pretty steep... unless you can get a steal on one, i would just leave it as is. Maybe add some trim tabs or change to a 4 or 5 blade prop?
i have a dp and it was cracked on the lower unit so i was going to buy another lower unit but it cost $2800 from marina just for the unit. if your unit can handle the dp than you would have to get the gears and shafts for it. my props go $80 if i remember correct. you will have to get it reshimmed so the bearings ride in place.
this can get costly so i would say just stay with the sp.
