safety button

I have a 2003 sear ray 185. It has a 4.3l alpha 1. The saftey button that prevents the shift lever on the control box from engaging does not work. I can (or worse my kids) can engage the drive without pushing in the button at the top of the lever. How can I fix that for safety's sake.

If your talking about the shift handle.Then you might get lucky by contacting the manufacturer.Take it apart and see if you can identify it.Then figure out the bad part.Sometimes you can trim the rounded edges off the bad plastic.
Most used shifters are junk so try to get a new part.J
