I have an old 9.5 Evinrude motor model nbr 9222M.

The carburator leaks at a mfg 1/8" hole on the side. It looks like it should have a plastic plug like in picture #2.

What is the year?
Do they make the plug for the hole?
Do they still make the Carb

Can I use JB Weld to plug the hole.

The motor looks like it was never used much.

Thanks

It's a 1972. Anything that's gasoline resistant will work for you (JB Weld, Permatex, etc). You can still get the carb but if that's all that's wrong with it, I say repair it and use it.

Hey, check this link out. It is a parts breakdown of your carb

Look at part #15 in the diagram

http://www.boats.net/parts/search/BRP/EVINRUDE/1972/9223M 1972/CARBURETOR/parts.html#

Part you are pointing to in the second picture appears to be lead shot. If it is leaking, then remove it and replace it with a new lead shot by tapping it into place. You may be able to tap the original with a punch and reseal it. (gently tap, you don't want to smash it completely.

Here is a complete break down of your motor.

Good luck with your motor.
