hi, recently i purchased the humminbird 778C fish finder, thinking that this unit would be able to not only see the fish but be able to see them changing there minds..the head unit seems alright, but man have i had some hassles with the supplied transducer..it was fitted by a marine shop and wouldnt read the depth while planning ,say 25 knots..ive re-positioned it after reading forums and youtube advice. tested it on the water had it back and fourth from the trailer to the water while i did adjustments and yet it still doesnt read on the plane..really regretting buying this unit.is there a fix...or am i able to buy a transducer that compliments the 778c unit..?.

I take it the marine shop never tested it. Hopefully, thay at least read the installation manual, and followed all recommendations.

Posts some pictures of your transducer installation. Pictures of the side and rear are good for a start. HB transducers are on the large size and usually require more expeirmentation with placement.

Thru hull transducer should clear up all of that. I think you have to get it from Humminbird. We ran one for a friend's 1157 and it works at speed much better than the transom mount. We did, however, leave the transom mount on with it tilted up a bit to mark downrigger weights on screen. It is switched back and forth from transom mount to thru hull with a switch.
