The fuel bulb tends to lose it's prime. It's pointed down, coming from an 18 gal on-floor tank. Should I move this closer to the engine (after the external filter/water seperator) and point it up ? It would be paced about 12" from the engine, and would be toward the end of an 8' run. Would it still move the fuel with it being placed that far from engine ?

Arrow on bulb indicates direction of fuel flow. And yes it will work 12 " from engine. make sure you have a good make of bulb (not some cheep thing ) bulb will lose some pressure after engine starts. Or if it sits awhile. pressure it up always before start up.
