hi all

i have two Mercruiser 4.3 efi motors, (TBI) and i think they are both running a little rich especially at idle and start up

when first started from cold they are both a little smokey, smell rich

also on one i think the IAC may be sticky, as it doesn't idle up and then return to normal idle speed when started.as the other does

is it possible to adjust mixture???

is it possible to clean the IAC valve???

thanks for any comments, first hand experience would be appreciated

Re: running a little rich

is it possible to adjust mixture?

Yes, but you have to have the right equipment, computer, software and know-how in order to tune and burn a new chip for the ECU. Note That the IAC is not adjustable. The IAC is reset upon each shutdown of the ECU so it can ensure that the IAC will be at a known location. After which, the ECU parks the TBI.

is it possible to clean the IAC valve?

For all practical purposes no, but here is a way, however it involves a custom built connector, or the ECM interface that a car has. It's much easier just to replace it.
