Just bought a Donzi Pescador and am checking bellows. Had some water in u-joint so I am replacing gimbal bearing etc. I have not taken out the current brg yet but just laid new one over the hub and saw that the brg O.D. is about .175 too small. The stern drive is a cobra 1989 w/2004 crusader 5.7 L and I have never replaced a gimbal brg before. Is there some "step" in the hub which the bearing fits into? Or is the hub tapered to a smaller diameter? The brg is part of sierra kit 2771 box says omc 983937 but no part or serial # engraved on new part.
