I received quite the scare today with finding a raccoon in our boat. The batteries died and we have been checking on it (husband had surgery and have not used boat in a few months) and manually running the bilge. I reached under to find the handle on the bilge, couldn't find it and looked under to find a raccoon staring out at me.

Since the boat was for sale, we think the salesman showed it and left it open for a few hours and then covered it not knowing the raccoon was in the bilge area.

It all ended well, but thought you might enjoy a few pictures of our evicted tenant. The man in the pictures is the marina owner who kindly took care of the problem.

:D Its a very good thing that the 'Coon took the eviction so well. They can be rather poor tempered when they are scared or cornered, especially in tight spaces.
I am also rather pleased that we are not reading about the results of a following trip to the ER for 'Coon inflicted bites and scratches.

Me too, my hand was probably about 6" from her when I spotted her and jumped pretty much from the boat to the pier and hit land. She was so docile, the guy in the pics just kind of prodded her out and she went.

Good going in getting it removed and you didn't get hurt.

On another note....We were on the Mississippi river headed to the gulf and stopped for the night south of St. Louis. At daylight I got up to check the engine fluids on the big diesels with large lift mufflers. I heard a thrashing sound going on in one of the mufflers. After startup...out came a muscrat with his half built home.
