1986 suz 150 cutting off @ 3K RPM

Hey all, got a 1986 suzuki DT150 at anything above 3000rpm she ckokes out, when i drop it down to 3K,she runs ok..above i get a keyswitch alarm and no power...help..Thanks

I failed to mention..the controls are HI-LEX top mount with two blue wires coming from within..is that not a good thing,and do these wires need to be hooked to something?

If you are getting a alarm it maybe low oil flow or over temperature

whats better..onboard oil injection or premix..if the oil inkection is an issue i'd rather premix,one less problem

Find out what is wrong and fix it. maybe it will last another 24 years.
All things need to have a little maintenance done on them from time to time

i get that..ive thrown more money at this motor....but i think my question was pretty straight foward and didnt deserve a lecture.

I did not think that was a lecture, but to each his own.
It is always best to test things and find out what is wrong instead of throwing money and parts at it and hoping it will fix the problem.

That did come off as snippy on my part..i was wrong, i own 3 companys and am having to work 5 times as hard to even make 1/2 of last years profits, and with 2 children and it seems i dont have any time left over for "my" stuff..so its fustrating as hell to not be able to enjoy my boat,due to an issue no-one can remedy,including my local $85 an hour mechanic. Thank You for your advice and i will attempt to ferret out the problem..or go buy a new motor.
or sell the dam thing and buy another Harley

A manual would help to troubleshoot any problem you have with the motor.

Normally motors that go into the safe mode are limited to around 2k and the alarm will sound. I believe the over temp and oil flow are the ones that set that off, but not sure on your motor.
